Job Details
The Research Assistant will help faculty with a range of tasks related to both research and teaching.
Primary duties include research assistance on academic projects such as editing articles and manuscripts for publication, tracking down sources, managing data in Google forms, and assisting in interview transcription. Also, course preparation help will include photocopying, scanning, editing and organizing course materials, and other administrative tasks as needed.
This job requires a full academic year commitment – dates of service will be Aug/Sept 2018-May/June 2019, not to exceed 224 total hours. Schedule is flexible based on coordination with faculty.

Required QualificationsExcellent English proficiency in writing required, and Spanish language skills a big asset. In addition to basic Mac and Office software skills, the RA will need to be versed in Google forms data management – a motivated student can learn survey data management on their own after being hired, but must be willing to develop this expertise. Website development skills a strong plus as is knowledge of and/or interest in world politics and issues of human rights.
For a functional working environment, the RA must have excellent organizational and communication skills; proficiency in writing and editing; diligence in completing tasks in timely manner; and ability to work independently, and be punctual for meetings and communication with faculty. Professionalism and follow-through is key to making this successful.
