The Department of German at New York University invites applications for a Lecturer/Language Lecturer in German to begin September 1, 2019, pending budgetary and administrative approval.

The successful candidate would receive a three-year appointment. This position is renewable, but carries no implication of tenure. Lecturers/Language Lecturers teach a 3-3 course load, participate in extracurricular activities and may perform administrative duties as needed. The successful candidate must have superior-level proficiency in German. The lecturer/language lecturer will be expected to teach 100-level courses (post-intermediate courses conducted in German such as “Introduction to German Literature”) as well as language courses at the Elementary and Intermediate levels.

Requirements: PhD in German Literature; training and expertise in teaching German as a second language. Special consideration will be given to applicants with demonstrated excellence in teaching, as well as familiarity with current trends in second-language acquisition and foreign-language pedagogy, including integration of technology in the classroom.
