UTEC is looking for an experienced engineering researcher with a keen interest in business management to lead the Industrial Engineering Department. The candidate is expected to orchestrate a dynamic and highly visible program that combines student centered learning methodologies, high-impact research and intensive collaboration with industry. Due to our close relationship with the private sector in Peru, some of the topics we are especially interested in are: (1) The application of analytical and computational methods to solve complex management problems and enhance decision making in multiple business domains (operations, marketing, finance), (2) Product and service development, including the advancement of innovation and design theories and methodologies and (3) Supply Chain Management.

 

Once hired, the successful candidate will be expected to develop and teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, to obtain competitive external funding, to establish an effervescent cross-disciplinary research program, and to develop a close working relationship with industry partners.

 

UTEC opened its doors in 2012 and is home to over 2200 students and 40 full time faculty members today. The University’s main goal is to admit outstanding students, regardless of their socioeconomic status, and to graduate the global engineers of 21st Century, with a holistic vision, good business and communication skills, and a clear focus on innovation and entrepreneurship contributing to the economy and society at large. UTEC is backed by the most influential business owners and companies in Peru, and supported through strategic alliances with world-renowned universities and institutions, such as MIT, Harvard University, Purdue, the University of New Mexico, and the Colorado School of Mines.

 

Applications will be considered beginning February 15, 2019 and will continue until the position is filled. The proposed starting date for this position is immediate but negotiable. Minimum Qualifications:

PhD degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Management Science or Operations Management, or relevant field required

Excellent written & oral communication skills;

Strong interpersonal skills;

Business experience (including consulting or collaborative research with industry);

Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student body;

Fluent in English (Spanish is a plus).

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience teaching industrial engineering courses;

Experience writing grant proposals;

Strong business acumen;

Demonstrated interest in working with academic, industry, and community partners.
