Gettysburg College seeks qualified candidates for the position of Assistant Director, Center for Global Education. This is a 12-month position. Gettysburg College currently sends approximately 60% percent of its student population on global study programs and is consistently ranked in the top 10 sending institutions nationally for semester-length study abroad for Baccalaureate institutions. Reporting to the Dean for Global Initiatives/Director, Center for Global Education, this position assists in leading the Global Education Team and has assigned student advising duties (whole-world/full-curriculum) (50%) and broad-ranging administrative responsibilities (50%) for global education activities in a very busy office with a high volume workload. The Assistant Director must be able to develop expertise and understanding of the College's curriculum, degree requirements, and academic policies to ensure accurate and proactive advising for students. An essential role of this position is being part of the College’s Emergency Response Team and assuring best practices in health and safety. Other crucial parts of the Assistant Director’s administrative activities are the management of online systems and databases, and regular data monitoring and reporting, thus the ideal candidate will have a background in data analysis and be comfortable with learning and managing evolving technology. The Assistant Director will frequently give public presentations to wide-ranging audiences, handle arrangements for visitors/program partners who come to campus, and may be called upon to lead program reviews and evaluations. The Assistant Director may also assist with reentry programs including the Global Leaders of Gettysburg College.

Qualifications: Master’s Degree required. Candidates with an academic background in the social sciences or a STEM field (undergraduate or graduate degree) are highly desirable. Experience studying and/or working abroad required. The successful candidate will have a minimum of two to three years’ progressively responsible administrative experience in study abroad, demonstrated success working with faculty, and a clear understanding of current issues in global education. A commitment to semester-length study abroad opportunities is essential as this is a hallmark of Gettysburg College’s global study program. A background analyzing data and preparing reports, and prior experience managing online systems and/or databases strongly preferred. Previous site visit/program evaluation experience and familiarity with the major third-party study abroad providers preferred. Additionally, we seek a creative thinker who can work on a number of projects simultaneously, pay attention to detail, and work within strict timeframes. There will be some travel required as part of this position.
