Natureof Work

The Director will provide leadership,direction, and management for both external and internal aspects of theinnovation programs at UCCS, including the  Bachelor of Innovation™  and the proposed Master of Innovation™ programs.  The director will have a significantoutward-facing role, build relationships, attract stakeholders, share themessage of innovation, build/maintainthe program external advisory board, help in fundraising, represent the programto external entities and recruiting. The internal role of this position is toensure the quality of the programs and their delivery to the students, faculty,and staff. Through the position's leadership role, the director will helpensure that the requirements set forth by the innovation co-directors, as wellas the program accrediting bodies (e.g., AACSB, ABET, HLC, CAEP, and others) areimplemented and assessed. The director will develop and teach two innovationclasses per year; oversee and actively participate in the resolution ofacademic code of conduct violations; participate with the Office of the Dean ofStudents in the resolution of non-academic code of conduct violations;participate in program curriculum revision/design with the innovation faculty co-directors.The director is responsible for, and will work with the faculty, on the programbudget, program scheduling and assessment; coordination of team-sponsorshipprogram, partnerships, and other strategic alliances; coordination of student recruitment and retention;manage contact with innovation program alumni and oversee alumni activities;oversee hiring including coordination of adjuncts and/or communityentrepreneurs role in the innovation classes.

  • Oversee and actively participate in resolutionof academic code of conduct violations; work closely with the Office of theDean of Students on the resolution of non-academic code of conduct violations
  • Direct team-sponsorship program, partnerships,and other strategic alliances
  • Direct contact with BI alumni and overseealumni activities; track alumni outcome related to the BI
  • Engage in regular outcomes assessmentactivities related to the BI curriculum
  • Teach 2 classes each semester in theInnovation Core
BI Academic ProgramOperations
  • Facilitate regular meetings of the BI FacultyCo-Directors
  • Meet regularly with BI students and theSenator for Innovation
  • Work with BI Faculty Co-directors to plan forand manage program growth
  • Work with BI Faculty Co-directors to scheduleBI classes
  • Work with BI Faculty Co-directors to updateprogram curriculum and courses
  • Coordinate Adjuncts and/or CommunityEntrepreneurs role in the BI classes
  • Provide career and academic related counselingto students when needed


SalaryRange

$85,000 - $88,000

QualificationsMinimum Requirements
  • Master's degree from an accredited institution of higher education.
  • Two years or more leadership role in an academic or business environment.
  • Three years or more work experience in role doing innovation or fostering innovation processes within an organization.

PreferredExperience

  • Ph.D. from an accredited institution of higher education.
  • One year or more teaching experience in innovation, leadership or entrepreneurship.
  • One year or more experience with multi-disciplinary projects/programs.
  • One year or more experience associated with academic innovation.
  • One year or more experience working with diverse populations in a multi-cultural environment that is committed to diversity and equality in education.
  • Publications related to innovation (please attach up to two most relevant)
  • Patented Inventions (please include full citations on CV)
  • Six months or more startup experience (please give dates in CV and describe in letter).
