Job Details
- Write mathematical proofs in LaTeX, LyX, EXP or other math processing software under the guidance of senior biostatisticians.
- Write summaries of the processes used in the development of statistical methods and software that clearly communicate how the work was performed, how to implement the work and where all components of the work are stored.
- Write manuscripts describing mathematical concepts and their applications to biomedical research in a clear and concise manner consistent with journal guidelines.
- Use public domain literature databases to investigate prior work related to the project and write summaries of the searches.
- Develop algorithms to implement novel statistical methods in the SAS and SAS/IML environments using good programming practices.
- Meet with epidemiologists, nutritionists and other scientists to understand how the novel statistical methods could be applied to their studies.
- Knowledge of mathematical techniques, including calculus, linear algebra and numerical analysis
- Knowledge of foundational statistical concepts, either through coursework or work experience
- Experience with Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint
- Excellent communication and organizational skills

- Master of Science degree in statistics, biostatistics, computer science, mathematics or a related field
- Demonstrated excellence in scientific writing, including but not limited to preparation of manuscripts for statistical journals, documentation of processes used in statistical methods development and summaries of literature searches
- Demonstrated experience using LaTeX and LaTeX-based math processing software
- Demonstrated experience in SAS programming, including SAS/IML
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint
- Bachelor’s degree and coursework in statistics, biostatistics, computer science and mathematics
- Superior skills in scientific writing, including but not limited to preparation of manuscripts for statistical journals, documentation of processes used in statistical methods development and summaries of literature searches
- Experience using LaTeX and LaTeX-based math processing software
- Experience in SAS programming, including SAS/IML
- Familiar with Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint
- Master of Science degree in statistics, biostatistics, computer science, applied mathematics or related field at the PRA level
- Prior experience developing novel statistical methods, either from work or studies
- Excellent oral communication skills
- Strong interest in learning
- Great attention to detail
