> HDI, ITIL, or PMI certifications.
> Basic understanding of TCP/IP and networking.
> Basic knowledge of at least one server operating system (Linux, Windows).
> Basic knowledge of at least one hypervisor (VMware, Hyper-V, Citrix).
> Basic knowledge of an online support ticketing system.
> Experience in an environment with change management.
> Experience in a 3-tier DevOps style environment.

Position Summary

The University of Georgia Enterprise Information Technology Services (EITS) is seeking qualified candidates for a Windows Systems Administrator position. This position will be supervised and will be responsible for the system administration of high profile production systems providing central IT services to the UGA campus.

Typical responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Server installation, configuration, patching, and upgrading.
- Monitoring server availability and performance.
- Performing emergency troubleshooting and issue resolution.
- Securing systems and services.
- Serve on a rotating 24×7×365 on-call schedule.
- Assist in the development of standards and recommendations for critical functions and services, such as system configuration and backup & recovery.
- Develop and maintain written documentation to support the setup and maintenance of high profile services.
- Engage in continual process and service improvement cycle with colleagues, clients, and leadership to ensure high quality service delivery.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies

System administration experience with a current version of Windows (2008 or higher.)
Experience working with Windows Active Directory.
Basic understanding of TCP/IP and networking.
Good communication and time management skills.
The ability to work as a member of a team in a high pressure environment.
Eager to learn.

Physical Demands

Ability to move from one office to another office on campus. Job takes place in normal environmental conditions. This position will spend long periods of time standing and/or sitting at a computer.

1. Administers production Windows systems that provide centralized IT services to the campus population and the public while under supervision from the senior administrators.
a. Patches operating systems and applications.
b. Monitors production systems.
c. Assist in the development of standards and recommendations for critical functions and services such as system configuration and automated tasks.
d. Executes recovery operations when necessary.
e. Gives attention to security issues by discussing best practices with regard to system security. Responds as needed to threats and incidents.
f. Performs initial setup, software installation, testing, and security hardening of computer server systems.

a. Writes and maintains documentation to assist in the setup, administration, and troubleshooting of managed systems by team of coworkers with varying skill levels.
b. Works with others in EITS to document system policies and procedures.
c. Facilitates knowledge transfer between units inside and outside of EITS.
d. Creates and facilitates change requests for approval on all production systems.
e. Participate in meetings relevant to this position and team across campus.
f. Manages projects and support requests using in-house systems/tools.
