High school diploma or GED Appropriate experience in a work or volunteer environment. Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and travel are required.

Position Summary

This position is located in DeKalb County. This position is responsible for paraprofessional work with County Extension Agents in a food and nutrition education program for limited resource clients. The employee must exhibit qualities of independent judgment. Work is performed under general supervision. This position may require occasional night and/or weekend work.

Illustrative examples of work: 1. Plans, organizes, schedules, and conducts nutrition and food safety classes for limited resource adult clients, under general supervision of the County Extension Agent. 2. Prepares for and conducts food demonstrations for group classes.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies

Ability to relate effectively to adults while teaching. Strong communication skills. Ability to work with clients with limited resources.

Physical Demands

Standing, bending, food preparation, transportation of demonstration supplies, lifting, driving.
