The Department of Religious Studies at The University of the South seeks applications for a one year visiting position in Islamic Studies, beginning in August of 2019. Area of focus, historical periods, geographical concentration, and methodological specialization are all open. The successful candidates will teach introductory courses and upper division courses in their areas of expertise. The teaching load is three courses per semester.

We prefer candidates to have a Ph.D. at the time of appointment. The successful candidate will show evidence of teaching excellence (via student evaluations, course syllabi, teaching philosophy, teaching portfolio, etc.) and commitment to scholarly research and publication. We seek applications from all qualified candidates, especially those from traditionally underrepresented populations. We also seek applicants who are committed to teaching a growing and increasingly diverse student body in a highly selective, liberal arts college.
