NC State Dining is an award-winning program committed to giving our campus community a place to relax, connect and fuel their minds and bodies for academic success. It is part of the division of Campus Enterprises. NC State Dining operates 14 dining areas, 7 convenience stores, campus concessions, a nutritional counseling service and catering department.

We are seeking individuals to Join our Pack as a Temp Chef.

Essential Job Duties:

Recipe testing and development

Sanitation Inspections

Recipe implementation

Support retail operations

Support Dining Hall units

Support Catering Production

This is an hourly position with a 10-11 month assignment. Excellent performance during this time may provide an opportunity to renew employment and/or advance.

Other Work/Responsibilities

Be an ambassador for NC State Dining and the university as a whole.

Minimum Experience/Education

High School Diploma or equivalency. Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work will also be considered.

At least 1 year of experience in a similar capacity.

Departmental Required Skills

Ability to read recipes, production sheets, menus.

Basic computer skills.

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and push/ pull heavy food carts with or without assistance.

Stand for an extended period of time.

Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, peers and customers.

Maintain Grade A sanitation rating of 95% or better.

Provide exemplary customer service to every guest.

Must be able to work a set schedule with rotating shifts according to your personal schedule, including evenings and weekends.

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education

Two years of experience working in a high volume production kitchen.

One year of fine dining or upscale catering.

ServSafe Certification.

At least 2 years of supervisory experience.

Culinary degree or comparable experience preferred.

Restaurant and catering line experience.

Required License or Certification
