Essential Job Duties:

Made to order and small batch cooking in a high volume food service environment while maintaining high quality standards.

Follow standardized recipes to ensure food quality, appearance and taste.

Perform specialty tasks such as display station set up and service, enhanced garnishing, recipe development, and event meal assistance.

Transport cooked foods to hotboxes and may also help set up serving line.

Supplies/supports front of the house operations with backup food to ensure no lag time between changing out food items.

This is an hourly position with a 10-11 month assignment. Excellent performance during this time may provide an opportunity to renew employment and/or advance. Enjoy a two-week break in late December – early January due to semester break.

Other Work/Responsibilities Minimum Experience/Education

High School Diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.

Proficient with recipe preparation.

Experience with fine dining plate presentation.

Short order and high volume location.

Previous food service experience.

Three (3) years of progressive food service experience in catering, club, fine dining or casual dining with knowledge and skill.

Departmental Required Skills

Maintain Grade A sanitation rating of 95% or better.

May work as a grill cook and cook to order menu items.

Ability to stand for long periods of time.

Must be able to work rotating shifts, including evenings and weekends.

Perform necessary cleaning of utensils, work space, tables, shelves, and equipment.
Read and follow written recipes and oral instructions pertaining to cooking recipes.

Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and push speed carts.

Handle sharp items such as knives and slicer blades as well as be around hot food items, food pans, ovens, fryers, steam tables, grills.

Knowledge of equipment, cooking methods, measurements and food safety.

Ability to communicate effectively with customers, supervisors, and peers.

Provide exemplary customer service to every guest.

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education

Advanced display cooking skills preferred.

Certificate of completion from a Culinary Education program or enrolled in such a program or has diverse culinary knowledge preferred.

ServSafe certificate a plus.

Experience with plating and presentation in fine dining and or white linen catering preferred.

Recipe testing/development and recipe implementation preferred.

Sanitation Inspections preferred.

Experience as a Sushi Cook preferred.

Required License or Certification
