Job Description

 

 

Faculty for the physical therapy entry-level program on the Phoenix Biomedical Campus is sought. The responsibilities of the successful candidate will include developing and teaching courses related to the neurological practice pattern or cardiopulmonary practice pattern. Other expectations include student advisement, developing and disseminating scholarly products, obtaining external funding, and service to the department, college, university, and profession.

Minimum Qualifications

 

 

Minimum qualifications for the rank of Assistant Professor include:

 

• Eligible for physical therapy licensure in Arizona An academic doctorate degree* (PhD, EdD, etc) in physical therapy or a related field from an accredited institution 2 years or more of experience as a physical therapist in a clinical setting Prior experience in the development, implementation, completion, and dissemination of research projects

Minimum qualifications for the rank of Associate Professor include:

• Each of the stated requirements for the rank of Assistant Professor Six years in the rank of assistant professor in a university setting An established research agenda with a record of peer-reviewed publications with funding

*Candidates nearing completion of an academic doctorate (ABD) may be considered, but the doctorate must be completed by the start date.

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

Preferred qualifications for the rank of Assistant Professor include:

 

• Demonstrated commitment to work with people of diverse cultural backgrounds ABPTS certification Post-doctoral experience 2 years or more of teaching entry-level or post-professional physical therapy students An established research agenda with a record of peer-reviewed publications Experience with grant writing

Preferred qualifications for the rank of Associate Professor include:

• Each of the above stated requirements for the rank of Assistant Professor A record of teaching excellence at the university level Successful history of securing external funding

General Information

 

Northern Arizona University is a 31,073-student institution with its main campus in Flagstaff, a four-season community of about 70,000 at the base of the majestic San Francisco Peaks. In 2012, the Physical Therapy Program of Northern Arizona University (NAU) began offering a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree at the Phoenix Biomedical Campus (PBC) in addition to the Flagstaff Mountain Campus. To date, five cohorts of students have successfully completed the program. NAU is now seeking a dynamic, forward-thinking individual to join the physical therapy faculty at the PBC.

The PBC is a 30-acre urban medical and bioscience campus located in thriving and revitalized Downtown Phoenix. Background Information

 

Northern Arizona University requires satisfactory results for the following: a criminal background investigation, an employment history verification and a degree verification (in some cases) prior to employment. You may also be required to complete a fingerprint background check.

Rank and salary are commensurate with academic credentials and experience.

This is a Faculty (FAC) position. NAU offers an excellent benefit package including generous health, dental and vision insurance; participation in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS) or the Optional Retirement Program (ORP); sick leave accruals and 10 holidays per year; and tuition reduction for employees and qualified family members. Faculty are hired on a contract basis, renewable according to terms of the Conditions of Faculty Service. Employees offered a position will be eligible for state health plans (including NAU's BCBS Plan). Employees will have 31 days from date of hire to enroll in benefits, and their benefits will then be effective the first day of the pay period following their completed enrollment.

If a new employee chooses the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS) retirement option, participation in the ASRS Plan (and the long-term disability coverage that accompanies it) will begin on the first of the pay period following 183 days of employment. New employees who choose to participate in the Optional Retirement Plan (ORP; an alternative to the ASRS plan) will begin to participate on the first day of employment. The long-term disability plan that accompanies the ORP will begin on the first day of the pay period following 90 days of employment.
