DescriptionMajor Responsibilities
The Assistant Director reports to the Director of Admissions, leading recruitment and admissions efforts, as assigned by the Director. Working with the Director of Admission and the Enrollment Marketing Team, the Assistant Director develops an annual recruitment plan including travel and events, virtual and onsite communication, data reporting, and best practices to promote the Institute’s strategic growth of inquiries and applicants. The Assistant Director will serve as the initial point of contact for prospective students within the Office of Enrollment Services. The Assistant Director travels to various regional and national college fairs and develops key relationships with college and pre-health advising constituents. The Assistant Director provides exceptional customer services and cultivation of applicants through the admissions process, with emphasis on identifying and recruiting students from multicultural and traditionally underrepresented backgrounds. The Assistant Director will collaborate closely with Institute faculty and staff, as required, regarding various on and off-campus events, activities and projects that support the Institute’s strategic enrollment and recruitment goals. Working with the Enrollment Marketing team and the Director of Admission, the Assistant Director will identify best practices and strategies to promote the Institute’s strategic growth in inquiries and applications.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities
30% - Admissions Recruitment Planning and Outreach - Manage the development and maintenance of Admissions recruitment and marketing plans with the purpose of attracting and enrolling a strong, diverse and qualified applicant pool, with emphasis on recruitment of students from multicultural and traditionally underrepresented backgrounds. Develop, implement and evaluate strategies and communication plans designed to increase the application, admission and matriculation of students, with emphasis on multicultural and traditionally underrepresented student backgrounds. Strengthen relationships and coordinate recruitment activities with feeder undergraduate programs and community-based organizations that assist in the recruitment of underrepresented students. Identify new markets and explore new opportunities to expand recruitment efforts in alignment with Institute strategic enrollment goals. Serve as liaison to various multicultural organizations (i.e. HBCU, HSI, AIGC, etc.) and pipeline programs. Work with the Director of Admission to identify institutions for feeder/articulation programs, especially for the purpose of recruiting highly qualified multicultural students. Manage the planning and implementation of on campus and off campus information sessions, along with other Admissions and Enrollment Marketing staff. Liaison with programs in scheduling and promoting specific degree programs.

25%: Outreach and Recruitment – Represent the Institute at scheduled recruitment events, both on and off campus. Some regional and national travel is required.

20%: Works with Enrollment Marketing Team to identify and implement best practices to promote the Institute’s strategic growth in inquiries and applications through recruitment efforts. Work with Institute constituencies and other Admissions and Enrollment Marketing staff in the production of other promotional materials related to admission and recruitment, as needed.

15%: Application Management and Advisement - Manages compliance with all Institute and program-specific requirements. Provide accurate and current information regarding the Institute and its academic programs’ requirements. Collaborate with Institute faculty and staff throughout application and admission process of certain programs, as determined by the Director of Admission, to ensure compliance with all admission/Institute policies and to meet enrollment goals.

5%: Application Reporting and Review – Serves as the liaison with programs throughout admission review of certain programs, as determined by the Director of Admission.
5%: Other – Perform other related duties within OES in support of financial aid, student services and registration as necessary and incidental to the work described herein. Consults with the Director of Admissions on unusual student or program situations, as needed.


Supervisory Responsibility
Supervise the work of Graduate Assistants, if needed.


Fiscal/Budget Responsibility 
Responsible for assisting in maintenance of budget spreadsheets, as needed.


Working Conditions
Work is performed under considerable stress during peak periods of activity; deadlines, meetings, high traffic and frequent interruptions. Fast-paced office environment.

Training / Time Required To Learn Job Responsibilities
Two weeks intense training. A year’s experience moving through the various admissions cycles.



QualificationsEducation & Experience Qualifications 
Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred. Three to five years experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified, specifically with strategic recruitment. Experience with Colleague/Ellucian and Centralized Application Systems preferred. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to deal with complex issues.

Skills/Abilities/Competencies Required
Administrative Skills- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; customer-oriented. Well-developed telephone etiquette; ability to handle multiple tasks and frequent interruptions effectively; familiarity with enrollment management concepts; detail-oriented.

Technical Skills- Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SIS software. Basic math competency.
