Job Summary/Basic Function: The Outreach Specialist conducts extensive recruitment and provides programmatic and direct student support for the Veterans Upward Bound program in Douglas, Dodge, Washington, and Sarpy Counties to assist veteran participants in enrolling in and completing postsecondary education. This position reports to the Director of Veterans Upward Bound and will aid the Director with recruitment and dissemination of information by attending veteran related events, organizations and post-secondary institutions to promote program services, providing regular presentations on the program in an effort to increase general public awareness of the program throughout the four county area.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in counselor education, counseling, psychology, higher education administration or a related field plus two years of full time experience in a post-secondary educational environment or human services required. Experience working with veterans in supportive services or advising capacity a plus. Equivalent combination of education and/or experience including part time considered. A valid driver's license and insurability to drive College vehicles required. Hiring process includes background check. This position is a Special Funded Grant until 8/31/2022. Position is contingent upon MCC Board of Governors approval. NOTE: College degrees obtained outside the U.S. accepted only when interpreted by transcript service members of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services.
