Sexual Misconduct Prevention Educator - 501943

SUMMARY:

The Sexual Misconduct Prevention Educator is responsible for planning, implementing and evaluating education and awareness programs to prevent sexual assault, dating/domestic violence, and stalking. In addition, serve as campus leader to lead campus efforts to define, execute, and assess a campus-wide sexual misconduct prevention plan which successfully targets the reduction of sexual violence and the promotion of healthy behaviors and relationships. Develop and sustain collaborative partnerships with internal and external stakeholders in an effort to streamline all education and awareness programs.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Sexual Misconduct Training and Prevention

  • Design, implement and evaluate a campus-wide sexual misconduct prevention and awareness program that includes a social norms campaign. Work with appropriate Deans’ Offices, the Department of Athletics, Chaplaincy, the Center for Student Involvement, the Division of Student Development, and others as needed to plan, conduct, and evaluate training workshops for student groups and organizations, especially student leadership.
  • Train individual groups and organizations in sexual misconduct prevention as required by campus and nation-wide requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with the Title IX Coordinator and Deputy Title IX Coordinator for Students on the development and evaluation of campus programming, policies, and procedures related to the prevention of sexual misconduct.
  • Research best practice models of sexual violence prevention with college aged populations and develop goals and measurable objectives for sexual violence education and prevention.
  • Develop and coordinate marketing and communication strategies to promote awareness, sustain dialogue and increase participation in programs related to sexual violence education.
  • Deliver training to student organizations that participate in the planning of activities around sexual assault, dating/domestic violence, and stalking. Provide support and guidance to student-driven events and programs (e.g. Spiders for Spiders).
  • Provide oversight of the Safe Harbor Advocate and campus partnership with Safe Harbor for advocacy services, and advocate on-campus hours.
  • Oversight of administrative functions of the Center for Sexual Assault Prevention and Response, including website content, hours, and integration of services.
  • Develop, monitor, and annually review and update all departmental budgets to provide sound fiscal management for the department including all operating, revenue, and employment budgets.
  • Manage peer education group: train, develop content, and provide direction for work.
  • Design and implement support services and events for survivors of sexual misconduct.
  • Serve as a resource to academic classes as requested: deliver content, facilitate discussions, aid in student projects.
  • Serve as chair of prevention and education committees for students, staff, and faculty.
  • Identify grant opportunities and funding sources for department initiatives and apply for relevant grants at the local, state and/or national level.
  • Coordinate programs and develop relationships with community partners.
  • Serve on University and Student Development committees as assigned.

Wellness Education

  • Administer on-line bystander training course (WELL 086) to all second year students including tracking student progress, sending e-mail reminders, and administering grades and holds.
  • Teach three WELL 085 classes and four WELL 090 classes per academic year.
  • Serve as a certified Wellness Coach to facilitate integration of health and wellness services to students.
  • Lead content in sexuality and sexual health as it is a primary prevention tool.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Background in sexual assault prevention and awareness programming development
  • Broad knowledge of the dynamics of power, privilege, and oppression, gendered violence, and sexual and intimate partner violence on campus
  • Knowledge and understanding of Title IX, Clery Act, and related laws and regulations, specifically as they pertain to prevention and education efforts
  • Demonstrated experience designing and delivering training programs to constituents
  • Ability to use technology including audio/visual and software applications
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating committees
  • Thorough knowledge of current trends and best practices in sexual assault prevention and bystander intervention
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, social justice, and creating inclusive environments
  • Strong organizational skills required to balance a variety of tasks with a high degree of competence and accuracy
  • Experience working with a diverse client base
  • Computer proficiency and ability to learn specialized software programs
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to build and establish collaborative relationships across the institution
  • Ability to supervise students
  • First Aid and CPR certification required within 30 days of employment
  • Wellcoaches (Wellness Coaching) certification required within first year of hire

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Master’s degree required within 6 months of hire, preferably in Counseling, Psychology, Health Promotion, Health Education, Social Work, Higher Education or related field.
  • 1-3 years’ experience working in a college/university or community agency setting preferred

WORK HOURS:

  • Full-time, exempt position
  • Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.; 7.75 hrs./day; 38.75 hrs./week
  • Must be available for some weekend and evening work for workshops, trainings, and awareness events

SALARY STRUCTURE:
Pay Grade 6 (Hiring Range $44,775.00 to $59,325.00 annually)
