Job Details

The University of North Alabama is accepting applications for the position of First Grade Teacher/Clinical Faculty
at Kilby Laboratory School. This position is an elementary teacher in the primary grades, teaching all subjects to one class. In addition to working with elementary students, the teacher will also supervise student interns, accommodate clinical experiences in the classroom, conduct classroom research, serve on committees, and participate in other job related activities. The successful candidate must have a clear understanding of the Alabama Reading Initiative, Alabama Math, Science and Technology Initiative, College and Career Ready Standards, and be committed to implementing innovative practice.

Essential Job Duties

Teacher in the primary grades to teach all subjects to one class. Additional Duties

Support of campus community, participation in school-wide professional development, and engagement with Parent Teacher Organization.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree in Elementary Education or Early Childhood Education is required;
Three or more years of teaching experience in grades K-6 is preferred;
National Board for Professional Teaching Standards Certification is preferred;
Education Specialist (Ed.S.) degree is preferred;
Three years of teaching experience in grades P-3 is preferred;
STEM instructional experience is preferred;
Valid Alabama Professional Educator Certificate in elementary or early childhood education, or the ability to obtain such through reciprocity, is required.

Licenses, Certifications, or Registrations

Each applicant must possess a valid Alabama Professional Educator Certificate in elementary education or early childhood education or demonstrate the ability to obtain the certificate through reciprocity from another state.

Established in 1830 as LaGrange College, the University of North Alabama has a rich history including the distinction of being the first state-supported teachers college in the South.
