Assist Journey Electrician with tasks related to maintenance, replacement, or installation of electrical systems and equipment. Operate and maintain advanced microprocessor based fire alarm systems, specifically: Grinnell/Auto Call; Siemens/Pyrotronics; and Notifier equipment. Install and maintain alarms, CCTV, card access systems, digital surveillance cameras and digital recorders. Perform mandatory maintenance and testing of equipment and maintain documentation. Identify malfunctions or problems and report to Journey Electrician, Lead Electrician, Supervisor and/or Electrical Systems Manager. Perform routine, semi-skilled and/or unskilled repairs or replacement of electrical fixtures or equipment. Replace fluorescent tubes, ballasts and lenses. Perform other related duties such as: operating and maintaining a variety of power or hand tools; transporting materials and personnel to and from job site; cleaning up job site and returning equipment; and following all safety procedures. Provide direction to Facilities Workers and/or unskilled workers. Required 2) Working knowledge of various power and hand tools, equipment and materials of the electrical trade. Required 3) Ability to work as part of a team through close collaboration with colleagues and coordinate with other trades. Required 4) Skill in reading standard English text in order to follow through on written orders and carry out assignments. Required 5) Oral communication skills to obtain or convey clear, concise and grammatically correct information. Required 6) Skill in writing simple English phrases using correct grammar and spelling to complete reports that are accurate and easy to comprehend. Required 7) Skill in performing basic mathematical calculations: adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing. Required 8) Ability to work independently and follow through on assignments. Required 9) Working knowledge of standard safe work practices. Required 10) Ability to adhere to department policies and procedures. Required 11) Provide direction to Facilities Workers as part of a team. Required 12) Working knowledge of various types of fire alarm and security alarm systems in order to install and maintain systems and equipment. Required 13) Working knowledge of materials, equipment and tools of the Electrical trade. Required 14) Ability to use a variety of power or hand tools and electronic testing equipment. Required 15) Ability to troubleshoot and repair de-energized electrical systems and equipment for malfunctions, sign of damage, deterioration, or adjustment. Required 16) Ability to read project specifications, blue prints, and technical trade related manuals. Required 17) Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships and maintain a positive and respectful attitude. Required 18) Ability to prioritize assignments and complete projects in a timely manner. Required 19) Ability to consistently be present at job/work and report to work on time, prepared to perform the duties of the position. Required 20) Ability to stand, crawl, walk, stoop and push, pull and lift or lower objects weighing up to 50 lbs. Required 21) Ability to work indoors and outdoors, in wet or humid weather, and in fluctuating and/or extreme temperatures. Required 22) Ability to work under adverse situations and conditions, e.g. dirty, noisy, confined spaces etc. Required 23) Ability to distinguish among colors.
