Responsibilities:
New Student & Transition Ambassadors will work alongside the New Student and Transition Programs team to assist with the development, coordination, and implementation of services and programs. NSTA’s will serve as ambassadors to the campus community and should represent the vision and values of the Office. Through continued opportunities of education and training, NSTA’s will have the opportunity to expand their skills in the areas of customer service, public speaking, marketing, and program development. This is a great opportunity for detailed-oriented students interested in working with people and events.

Daily Tasks:

Assist in the development and day-of logistics of retreats, and on-going programs or projects.
Assist in the day-to-day administration of the NSTP office; not limited to answering phones, filing, collecting mail, opening and closing the office, faxing, copying, creating files and forms, maintaining databases, and greeting walk-in appointments.
Serve as a resource to individuals and student groups and connect them with campus and community resources.
Participate in training and development workshops and attend regularly scheduled student staff meetings.

Knowledge/Skills:

Customer Service: serve as a reliable, confident, and approachable resource for transitioning students and their families via phone, email, etc.
Project Development: work in a team environment, oversee projects, and following through with ideas from conception to completion.
Time Management: be on time and be present for all shifts.
Role Model: serve as a role model and conduct oneself in a professional manner representing the NSTP office.
Knowledge: familiarity with the programs and services related to NSTP.
Organization: utilize organized decision and problem-solving skills.
Independence: take initiative and work independently.
Communication: demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills.
Diversity/Inclusion: set a positive tone for interaction and demonstrate responsibility and respect for others’ rights, feelings, lifestyles, diverse backgrounds, and for personal and College property.
Marketing: demonstrate ability to produce creative and innovative marketing materials.
Additional assignments by skill set.

Required Qualifications

Requirements:

Good academic standing with Ithaca College
An ability to plan proactively
Strong organization skills and the ability to work independently
Willing and able to work promotional events during evening and weekend hours
Comfort with managing and working with peers
Capability of contacting and coordinating external groups
Ability to communicate effectively with department administrators, operations and facilities staff to implement promotional events
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Canva/Design, and Outlook.
Knowledge of Photoshop/Video skills encouraged but not required.
Demonstrated commitment to a diverse work environment

Employment Details:

All NSTA’s will be required to attend a training.
NSTA’s will attend a weekly staff meeting/bi-weekly 1:1s throughout the semester.
NSTA’s must have a minimum GPA of 2.75 and be in good judicial standing.
Pay is $11.10 an hour and students typically work 12-15 hours a week (in and out of the office).
