Hollins University is seeking qualified candidates for a full-time painter. Previous painting experience preferred, but early career painters are encouraged to apply.

The painter maintains and performs preventive maintenance painting on buildings’ interiors and exteriors. He/she performs skilled and semi-skilled tasks in the maintenance and repair of finishes of exterior surfaces, interior walls, ceilings, and floor surfaces. The painter erects scaffolding, and sets up ladders to perform tasks above ground level, prepares parking areas and streets for striping, and operates related machinery. He/she also cleans and inspects gutters and roof drains, and unclogs them as necessary, and restores/refinishes and moves furniture as needed. On-the-job training is provided.

Successful applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent, excellent communication skills, customer-service focus, and a valid United States driver’s license with minimal violations. Candidates must have abilities to stand, walk, climb, stoop, kneel, bend, and reach for extended periods of time; full range of body motion; ability to operate hand tools and motorized equipment requiring manual dexterity; and ability to lift/carry items weighing up to 50 pounds. Applicants must have abilities, without assistance, to work from ladders, scaffoldings, and elevated platforms up to 135 feet high, and move and operate man/people lifts up to 80 feet high. Must also be a self-starter and team player, and be willing and able to work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions. Final candidates will be subject to criminal history and motor vehicle background checks.
