Hofstra University is a dynamic community of more than 11,000 students from around the world who are dedicated to civic engagement, academic excellence and becoming leaders in their communities and their careers.Description:Reporting to the Associate Director of Campus Operations, the Manager of Custodial Services position is responsible for delivering quality and reliable custodial, event set-up and emergency response services on the 3 pm to 11 pm custodial shift.
Incumbent will direct the work assignments and monitor the attendance, punctuality and performance of bargaining unit and student employees. The manager will estimate the time, materials, and supplies necessary to perform custodial operations and support University events, and will perform and report findings of daily inspections of assigned areas for safety, quality of cleanliness and general building conditions.
Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree required. A minimum of 4 years of experience supervising unionized custodial, building maintenance and event operations, preferably in a higher education, hotel management or conference center setting is required. A thorough knowledge of cleaning and safety procedures and experience in the operation of commercial custodial equipment required. Knowledge of the proper handling, storage, and application of custodial products required. Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
The successful candidate must be able to manage diversified responsibilities across multiple campus buildings in a challenging work environment. Manager must be available to work major University events and occasional weekends/holidays. Must possess excellent customer service skills and be able to communicate and interact effectively with a broad range of campus guests, students, faculty and staff.
Must possess and maintain a NYS driver’s license. Experience working with Microsoft Office, CAFM and computerized payroll systems is required.
