Department The Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering (IME) at Florida A&M University-Florida State University College of Engineering invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in the area of nanomaterials engineering and manufacturing in the city of Tallahassee, Florida.
The IME Department is a dynamic group of faculty active in research across various areas of industrial engineering, manufacturing engineering, and materials science and engineering. The IME department provides excellent research opportunities as home of the High-Performance Materials Institute (HPMI). Moreover, the successful candidate will have many opportunities to interact and collaborate with several FAMU and FSU laboratories/centers including the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory; the Center for Advanced Power Systems; Aeropropulsion, Mechatronics, and Energy Center and the Center of Research Excellence in Science and Technology. HPMI is a center of excellence with comprehensive facilities for research, education, and commercialization in the fields of advanced composites, multifunctional nanomaterials, advanced manufacturing and process modeling and optimization. Over the last 5 years, the annual research expenditures have averaged approximately $2.5 million from multiple sources including active NSF, NASA, and DoD grants. page: http://www.eng.famu.fsu.edu/ime and the HPMI website: http://hpmi.research.fsu.edu/)Responsibilities The successful candidate is expected to develop a strong externally-funded research program, collaborate with interdisciplinary researchers across campus, and demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in education. The faculty member will teach undergraduate and graduate courses, supervise undergraduate and graduate students, and participate in service activities within the department, the university and the profession.Qualifications Candidates must possess an earned Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline. Priority will be given to candidates in the area of nanomaterials and nanocomposites modeling and manufacturing, as well as data science application in composite analysis and manufacturing.
