The School of Music, in the College of Fine Arts and Communication, has an enrollment of over 300 music majors and minors with over 50 faculty and staff. The School is fully accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music.

Job Duties

The School of Music and Department of Student Involvement and Leadership (SIL) seeks a chief recording engineer and audio technician in support of the academic and educational programs in the School of Music and S. Rudolph Alexander Performing Arts Series (SRAPAS) to begin January 2019.
Responsibilities will include:
•Serving as chief recording engineer and audio technician in support of the academic and educational programs.
•Recruiting, training, and oversight of graduate and undergraduate students who serve as engineering crews for SRAPAS and School of Music events both on and off campus.
•Selection and procurement of media and recording equipment and software for the School of Music.
•Providing technical support for opera productions.
•Managing the streaming servers for web broadcasts of School of Music events.
•Coordinating with the Music Library in providing recording availability and restoration.
•Providing support for additional selected events managed by SIL that do not conflict with SRAPAS or School of Music obligations.

The Instructional Technology Consultant may be responsible for teaching courses in his/her area of expertise, as needed by the School of Music and as assigned by the Director of the School of Music.

Minimum Education/Experience

Master’s degree or Bachelor’s degree in music or performing arts discipline with at least three years of experience. Ability to function independently with minimal supervision.

License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education

The preferred candidate will have a classical music background, hold a master’s degree in a closely related field and three or more years of directly related technical experience.
