East Carolina University is a public doctoral/research university in Greenville, North Carolina, with an enrollment of nearly 29,000 students. It is the third largest university in North Carolina. ECU offers 84 bachelor’s degree programs, 71 master’s degree programs, 13 research doctoral degrees, 5 professional doctoral degrees, the Brody School of Medicine and School of Dental Medicine.

The School of Music, in the College of Fine Arts and Communication, has an enrollment of over 300 music majors and minors with over 50 faculty and staff. The School is fully accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music.

Job Duties

Temporarily serve as chief recording engineer and audio technician in support of the academic and educational programs.

Oversight of graduate and undergraduate students who serve as engineering crews for S. Rudolph Alexander Performing Arts Series (SRAPAS) and School of Music events both on and off campus.

Selection and procurement of media and recording equipment and software for the school of Music.

Managing the streaming servers for web broadcasts of School of Music events.

Coordinating with the Music Library in providing recording availability and restoration.

Providing support for additional selected events managed by Student Involvement and Leadership (SIL) that do not conflict with SRAPAS or School of Music obligations.

Minimum Education/Experience

Master’s degree or Bachelor’s degree in music or performing arts discipline with at least three years of experience. Ability to function independently with minimal supervision.

License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation


Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education

The preferred candidate will have a classical music background, hold a master’s degree in a closely related field and have at least three years of directly related technical experience.
