The Public Health & Exercise Science majors in the Department of Health and Human Performance (HEHP) at the College of Charleston, are two of the fastest growing and largest majors on the College’s urban campus, located in historic downtown Charleston, South Carolina. HEHP invites applications for a full-time Instructor position beginning in August of 2019. The successful candidate will join the rapidly growing HEHP department, which offers Bachelor of Science degrees in Public Health, Exercise Science, and Physical Education Teacher Education.

The College is a state-supported, comprehensive institution and ranks among the nation’s top universities in providing quality education in the arts, sciences, education, and business. The student body numbers approximately 11,000 students in undergraduate and graduate programs. The downtown campus is located within walking distance of world class shopping, restaurants and entertainment and is only a 20 minute drive to 3 public beaches. Academic Responsibilities: 1) Provide high-quality instruction in four courses per semester within the Exercise Science & Public Health majors, 2) Perform advising duties within the Exercise Science & Public Health majors, 3) Participate in the development and advancement of department curriculum, 4) Utilize excellent written and oral communication skills, 5) Engage in service activities within the program, department, school and college as appropriate, 6) Work collaboratively within the program and department to help meet stated goals and objectives, and 7) Commit to a liberal arts & sciences undergraduate education.
Minimum Qualifications: 1) An earned MS degree in Public Health, Exercise Science or closely-related discipline from an accredited institution, 2) The experience/training to teach courses such as Public Health Administration, Organization and Administration in Physical Education and Health and other classes within the department, 3) Prior experience in academic advising and mentorship.
Preferred Qualifications: Higher education teaching experience in the subject areas listed above, academic advising experience, evidence of service in higher education.
Salary: Salary and benefits package is competitive and dependent on qualifications and experience.
