Job Description Summary

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Clarkson University invites applications for two tenure track positions in the areas of Structural Engineering and Geotechnical Engineering, respectively, with expected starting dates of each being July of 2019. These positions are expected to be filled at the assistant professor level. Candidates with exceptional records may also be considered at the associate or full professor levels. Successful candidates will demonstrate an interest in collaborative research that complements and augments existing expertise among the faculty in the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department (http://www.clarkson.edu/cee).

Minimum Qualifications

For the position in structural engineering: research areas of interest include, but are not limited to, data science and machine learning; multi-hazard mitigation; hybrid structural simulation; and infrastructure resilience. For the position in Geotechnical Engineering: research areas of interest include, but are not limited to, data science and machine learning; analytical and numerical modeling; soil-structure interaction; and geotechnical earthquake engineering. Successful candidates are expected to develop vigorous, nationally visible, externally funded research programs and maintain a strong commitment to teaching at all levels. A Ph.D. in Civil Engineering or a closely related field is required of all applicants.

Preferred Qualifications

Clarkson University is strategically emphasizing four primary research focus areas: Data Analytics, Healthy World Solutions, Advanced Materials Development, and Emerging Interdisciplinary Research Solutions. These focus areas are supported by seven university wide research centers (CITeR, C3S2, ISE, CARES, CAMP, CfM, and CREST). Candidates whose research interests align with one or more of these focus areas are especially encouraged to apply.
