Job Description Summary

The Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineering (MAE) Department of the Wallace H. Coulter School of Engineering at Clarkson University invites applications for a tenure track position at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank (starting date: July 2019 or earlier). Applications are sought from individuals whose research interests are in fluid mechanics, aerodynamics or thermal sciences.

Clarkson’s MAE Department supports approximately 850 undergraduate and graduate students, and offers B.S. degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Aeronautical Engineering, and M.E., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Mechanical Engineering.

Successful candidates will be expected to teach fundamental undergraduate and graduate courses in mechanical/aeronautical engineering, and develop strong externally-funded research programs.

Clarkson University is strategically emphasizing four primary research focus areas: Data Analytics, Healthy World Solutions, Advanced Materials Development, and Emerging Interdisciplinary Research Solutions. These focus areas are supported by seven university wide research centers (CITeR, C3S2, ISE, CARES, CAMP, CfM, CREST). Applicants should articulate a clear and substantiated vision of how their background can lead to sustainable accomplishments that produce excellence in both interdisciplinary research within the identified focus areas and research centers, and classroom instruction. Each applicant should submit a CV, a research statement, a teaching statement, and contact information for at least three professional references

Minimum Qualifications

A Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related area is required and research interests in fluid mechanics, aerodynamics or thermal science.

Preferred Qualifications

Ph.D. in mechanical and aerospace engineering or equivalent.

Physical Demands
