Hours of work may include evening or weekend teaching assignments.
•Part-Time Faculty compensation begins at Step 1 / $573 per load unit (LU). Load Unit is equivalent to class credit; and shall include both teaching and other assignments.
•Part-Time Faculty positions are not represented by the Faculty Forum Collective Bargaining Agreement.
•Initial assignment will be at the Bend Campus. May include travel throughout the College district.
•Official transcripts are required upon hire. Applicants anticipating Degree completion must supply a letter from his/her university stating the degree title and that the degree will be granted by that date.
•Upon hire, must pass criminal background check and/or driving history; only information relevant to the position will be considered.
To provide instruction in the Fine Arts and Communication Department. Part-time instructors design and plan classes, according to Department and College standards, direct student discussion and evaluate student performance in the classroom.
Essential Functions:1.Provide instruction in Speech, Journalism, Visual Art, Photography, Videography, Graphics Design, Music or Theatre Arts. This includes lecturing and guiding in classroom activities, providing individual conference time to guide and evaluate student progress. Teaching assignments may include courses taught during the day and/or evening, classes taught on or off campus.
2.Perform other essential duties and tasks specific to each location, as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Individuals must possess these knowledge, skills and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.
1.Thorough knowledge in one or more of the fields listed above.
2.Knowledge of teaching and instruction of various audiences and group dynamics.
3.Visual ability, corrected, to enable instructor to observe, direct, and supervise students in classroom situations.
4.Familiarity with and ability to operate or oversee the operation of audio-visual equipment, including overhead projectors, film, sound systems, video, television, interactive video and audio equipment including computer controlled mixed media presentations.
5.Ability to operate or oversee the operation of computers and other written materials.
6.Ability to orally communicate effectively with others, using the English language, with or without the use of an interpreter.
7.Ability to communicate effectively in writing, using the English language, with or without the use of auxiliary aids or services.
8.Ability to review, understand and apply concepts presented in training programs, conferences, and/or professional literature.
9.Ability to work with Fine Arts and Communication faculty and other COCC staffs at all levels.
10.Willingness to travel and/or teach at various hours and locations, as required.
11. Ability to work effectively and sensitively with constituents from diverse cultural backgrounds and perspectives.
Physical Demands and Other Ergonomic Requirements:Work is performed in classroom and office environments with the ability to sit or stand at workstation for extended periods. The employee is regularly required to use computers, white boards, projectors, and other basic office equipment. The employee is regularly required to sit, use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms and requires near visual acuity to write, read written materials and computer screens, and sufficient hearing and speech ability for ordinary conversations. Computer screen is used frequently. Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs. Travel throughout the College district as needed. A flexible work schedule, including evenings and weekends, may be necessary due to the nature of the position responsibilities. The employee is required to meet physical and ergonomic requirements of the program area as this may vary from positions. Minimum Qualifications:1. Master’s degree, or Master’s in Fine Arts in one or more of the above disciplines.
2. Evidence of excellence, or promise of excellence, in instruction.
3. Computer Literacy: Training in, or experience with, email, internet, word processing, and presentation applications.
4. Completion of criminal history check is required for all COCC positions.

Central Oregon Community College, the oldest two-year college in Oregon, provides comprehensive college services to the residents of its 10,000-square-mile district.
COCC offers two-year associate degrees, transfer/lower division programs, career and technical education degrees and certificates, developmental courses, continuing education and community learning classes, industry-specific training programs, and business management assistance.
The College's main campus is located on the western edge of Bend, a city known for its natural beauty and its proximity to diverse recreational opportunities. The location affords spectacular views of the mountains from nearly every point on the 201-acre campus. The Redmond Campus, located 20 miles north on 25 acres near the Redmond Municipal Airport, offers all of the courses necessary to earn an associate degree. In addition, it is the home of the Manufacturing and Applied Technology Center.
Thanks to a successful 2009 bond measure, COCC has constructed campus facilities in Madras and Prineville, opening the two campuses in 2011. In Bend, new health careers and science centers opened in 2012 as well as a technology center in Redmond.
A branch of Oregon State University is located on the Bend campus. OSU-Cascades offers upper division and graduate programs on the COCC campus.
