JOB SUMMARY

This position performs custodial duties on anassigned shift and is also responsible for overseeing the work of the otherEnvironmental Services Specialists on an assigned shift. This position reports to the EnvironmentalServices Supervisor. This position requires a Monday-Friday, 6:30 am to 2:30 pmshift, and occasional Saturdays.

ESSENTIAL JOBFUNCTIONS:

  • Delegatesduties and oversees employees on the assigned shift. Works directly with the Supervisor inemployee related communication as required.
  • Overseessubordinates on his/her shift in regards to scheduling, signing time cards, andinspection of work; provides feedback to Supervisor on their work performance.
  • Trainsassigned employees on procedures, equipment, and safety. Ensures that allapplicable OSHA regulations are followed.
  • Maintainscleaning equipment and reports equipment failure and break-downs to theSupervisor; works with the appropriate vendor in repair as directed by the Supervisor.
  • Assiststhe Supervisor in managing custodial work requests and ensures work iscompleted as requested.
  • Assistswith setups for special events.
  • Assistswith salting of walkways as necessary.
  • Maintainsappropriate inventory level of all supplies; orders supplies as directed by theSupervisor. May meet with vendors as appropriate.
  • Conductsbuilding inspections to ensure quality of work being performed.
  • Prepares internal and external correspondence or documents as wellas any other department related communications to support the assigned area andstaff.
  • Respondsto urgent cleaning needs as the result of spills/ accidents and maintainsrecords of those activities.
  • Dustsfurniture, washes walls/windows, and door glass in assigned areas.
  • Vacuums,spot cleans, and shampoos carpets in assigned areas; sweeps, mops, scrubs,strips, waxes, and spray buffs non-carpeted floors in assigned areas; movesfurniture and equipment as necessary to clean floors.
  • Cleans,disinfects, and deodorizes lavatories, urinals, toilet bowls, mirrors, andwater fountains; replaces deodorizers, toilet tissue, hand towels, and soap.
  • Disposesof trash from assigned areas and outside buildings; cleans and disposes of bodyfluid spills following proper protocol.
  • Reportsneeded building repairs to the Supervisor and Facilities Management Department.
  • Mayfunction as the Supervisor of the Environmental Services Staff in the absenceof that supervisor.

MINIMUMREQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK:

  • Mustbe flexible regarding work location and shift assignment.
  • Atleast one year of supervisory experience.
  • Proficiencyin MS Office products including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Experiencewith software used to manage work flow and staffing preferred.
  • Oneyear of experience in custodial services (including experience with performinginventory, ordering supplies, performing inspections, and various floorcleaning methods and equipment.)

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Thework is light work. However, this position requires the ability to occasionallylift heavy items and stand, stoop, and bend for longer periods of time. Frequentlyor constantly moving to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects,including the human body. Additionally,the following physical abilities are required:

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work environment involves everyday risks ordiscomforts which require normal safety with periodic exposure to chemicals andbodily fluids. Precautions typical of custodial duties in such places as officeor meeting and training rooms, e.g., use of safe work place practices withcleaning and office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, and observance offire and building safety regulations, and observance of traffic signals whendriving.

SALARY:

Thisposition will be placed on the 12 month, Grade 5 college salary scale. Positionincludes an excellent fringe benefit package. In order to qualify foremployment, candidates must successfully complete a criminal background check.
