Clinical Faculty and Director of Multiple Subjects Teaching Credential Program: Visalia Campus

POSITION: Full-time, with faculty rank; clinical position; non-continuing status track (non-tenure); 11-month faculty appointment in the School of Education.

STARTING DATE: July 1, 2019

The Division of Teacher Education at Fresno Pacific University offers the Multiple and Single Subject credentials at the Visalia Campus.  These fast-growing programs maintain a strong reputation throughout the region. Students from throughout Tulare County and Kings County are served by the Visalia Campus. Program graduates are well prepared and highly desired in the educational community in California’s Central Valley and beyond. The Teacher Education program is committed to preparing new teachers to embrace the opportunity to teach in diverse, high poverty schools.

  • Work collaboratively with the School of Education Faculty and Staff team at the Visalia campus to develop dynamic, excellent teacher education programs that target the needs of South Valley schools, students and teachers;
  • Partner with the Director of the Single Subject Credential program to lead the teaching credential programs at the Visalia Campus;
  • Collaborate with the Chair of the Division of Teacher Education and other Program Directors on the Fresno Main Campus;
  • Recruit, mentor, train and support all program adjunct teaching faculty and university mentors;
  • Teach field experience seminars, curriculum courses and other courses as needed;
  • Admit and advise credential candidates throughout their credential programs;
  • Respond to and resolve problems that emerge within the credential programs;
  • Develop and sustain healthy relationships with local schools and other educational agencies for the purpose of fostering high quality student teaching placements and internships;
  • Ongoing professional development and participation in teacher preparation professional organizations, and agencies.
  • Represent and promote Fresno Pacific University’s teaching credential programs to interested students and regional stakeholders.



  • MA in Education or related field;
  • Evidence of successful experience as a K-12 teacher and/or leader in diverse and high poverty schools (CA Teaching Credential preferred, out of state considered);
  • Evidence of experience and effectiveness in managing a diverse group of people in a busy, complex work environment;
  • Ability to work with students, staff and faculty in a collegial environment;
  • Information orientated computer skills;
  • Capacity to solve problems, resolve conflicts, and manage others;
  • Successful experience teaching adult learners;
  • Excellent skills in communication;
  • Commitment to the Christian faith and the University’s mission of Christ-centered teaching and learning, and involvement in a local church.


  • Completed or ABD in doctoral program in Education or related field;
  • Successful experience in educational administration;
  • Successful experience teaching in a teacher education program or other graduate education program(s);
  • Bilingual and bi-literate.

COMPENSATION: Dependent on qualifications and experience, and paid out over 12 months. Full-time benefits include insurance (medical, vision, dental, LTD), retirement (TIAA-CREF), Section 125 options.
