Duties Performed in the Usual Course of the Job

The duties and responsibilities of this position include: teaching across the curriculum; advising and mentoring students; performing professional and community service and outreach; and contributing to ongoing program evaluation and improvement.

Educational Requirements for the Position

Earned PhD in nursing from an accredited institution.

Experience Required for the Position

• Candidates must have two years academic teaching experience in four-year university/college institutions
• Be at, or have credentials consistent with, rank of assistant professor
• Have an active research program 
• Hold an active, unencumbered Texas RN license or be eligible for a Texas RN license
• Demonstrated involvement in professional service
• Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills and collegiality
• Minimum of two years’ experience as a Registered Nurse in the clinical teaching area

• Experience with accreditation
• Experience in innovative teaching approaches
• Use of technology in instruction and experience with distance/online education
• Experience with intra- and inter-professional collaborative education, scholarship, and/or practice
• Developing area of scholarship with evidence of current funding success

Special Instructions Summary

The School of Nursing offers a baccalaureate degree in nursing and is seeking Texas Board of Nursing approval for a Master of Science program with a family nurse practitioner concentration. The University is member of the Texas State System. The School of Nursing is located at The Woodlands Center campus approximately 40 miles south of the main campus in Huntsville, TX. The successful candidate will be expected maintain a campus presence as part of the School of Nursing faculty.
