Title of Position/Rank: Instructor of Fashion Design and Technology (Tenure-Track)

Responsibilities: Westchester Community College’s Business Department seeks applications for a full-time, tenure-track instructor capable of teaching fashion design courses at the foundational level through product development and complete garment design. The instructor will be asked to teach: Apparel & Design I & II, Fashion Illustration Technique, History of Fashion, Flat Pattern Making and Fashion Product Development. In addition, faculty are expected to assist students in the development of a fashion portfolio and manage and supervise an annual fashion show. Faculty are expected to be active members of the college community and be interested and motivated to assume departmental and campus-wide leadership roles in the future. The School of Business and Professional Careers is committed to increasing the diversity of the campus community. REQUIRED Qualifications: A Master’s Degree in Business, Fine Arts or a related area along with fashion industry experience and a minimum of 1 year of teaching experience at a college level is required. Knowledge of pattern making, garment construction, textiles and the latest in design technology is essential. The candidate for this position should be an excellent communicator as well as possess experience as a coach and motivator for community college students.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Evidence of at least 5 years of teaching experience at the college level is strongly preferred.   Knowledge and experience teaching the above listed subjects strongly preferred.

Position effective: Fall 2019

Salary and Benefits: The starting salary is $63,570 plus excellent benefits.
