DEPARTMENT/DIVISION:  The School of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences

TITLE OF POSITION/RANK:  Instructor of Art - Drawing and Animation (Tenure-Track)

RESPONSIBILITIES:  The Art & Design Department seeks a highly motivated artist with a commitment to foundation-level teaching in visual art & design, a strong knowledge of curriculum development and assessment, and an understanding of portfolio standards for students transferring to BFA programs.  The successful candidate will teach foundation drawing and animation courses while actively participating in the development of an interdisciplinary visual art & design curriculum that incorporates time-based media.  In addition to teaching a full-time load of 15 contact hours, the successful candidate will be expected to participate in curriculum development and assessment, oversee studio classrooms, and contribute to departmental and campus activities that support the college mission. The School of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences is committed to increasing the diversity of the campus community. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:  A Master’s degree in visual art or design and a minimum of one year college-level teaching, preferably at the community college level, is required. Candidates may specialize in any area of animation but must demonstrate clear fluency in observational drawing.

STRONGLY PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:  A minimum of three years of college-level teaching, preferably at the community college level, is strongly preferred.  Candidates who can apply foundational drawing skills in vector-based and CGI-based animation are strongly preferred.  Teaching experience and/or studio practice that engages with interactive and time-based media highly desired.

POSITION EFFECTIVE:   Fall 2019

SALARY & BENEFITS:  The starting salary is $63,570 plus excellent benefits.
