Professional Expert - Social Work Services Coordinator

Hourly Rate: $37/hr

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday (24 Hours/Week)

Open Until Filled

Located in the Special Services Department, this position will provide social services assistance to students in order to address circumstances that can complicate or compromise student learning processes or impede their educational and career goals with an emphasis on student homelessness.

The individual in this position will coordinate campus and community social services networks, provide social services trainings, and ensure that students are connected/referred to available social services resources on and off campus.


Direct Practice Social Services
· Regular duties include providing strength-based clinical case management through biopsychosocial assessments, appropriate interventions (I.e. collaboration with on campus and community agencies for linkage with resources, identification and education about available services, advocacy, and crisis intervention) and planning

· Provides case management that is holistic in nature and focused on improving students’ educational, psychosocial, functional and emotional wellbeing

· Triages students’ identified needs with a focus on academic success

Social Services Liaison
· Researches community resources to assist students by possessing knowledge of state, local and regional social service systems on a student by student basis
· Performs out-reach to social services programs/agencies to find out program goals and missions in order connect staff and students to social services resources as directed by the Associate Dean of Special Services
· Refers students to social services for utilization and college success on a case-by-case basis

Coordinate Trainings
· Coordinates trainings with campus departments and programs to inform staff of social services that can assist homeless students or students in need as directed by departmental directors, deans, and managers
· Develops training materials for training purposes as mandated by training needs

Oversee Master’s in Social Work (MSW) Internship Program
· As directed by the Associate Dean of Special Services, develops internship opportunities for MSW students or interns to help create and sustain the Student Homeless Initiative
· Schedules internship activities/opportunities for interns to assist in conducting departmental and program presentations as directed by the Associate Dean,

· Seldom lift, carry, push, and pull objects weighing up to 25 lbs.

· Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW) from an approved California Accredited School of Social Work AND
· Two (2) years of social work experience

Environmental Elements

The position will frequently work within a moderate office climate with moderate noise exposure. The position will frequently work with members of the campus community and subordinates. The position will occasionally come into contact with the general public.


This is not an exempt position and is subject to overtime.
