May manage programs that include formulating strategies and administering policies, processes, and resources; function with a high degree of autonomy. Uses advanced technical skills related to learning management systems, multimedia design, assessment systems, communication tools, streaming media platforms, and multimedia creative applications to meet unique and often "new" requirements related to online course design and development. Analysis of project requirements requires in-depth evaluation and understanding of learning goals, perhaps woven through a series of courses, and how technology tools facilitate creation of content and management of data related to behavior and performance. Interacts with senior internal and external personnel, and has an exceptional command of communications that represents the organization. May assume responsibility for a program of courses offered at a university or with university affiliates. Provides guidance to other instructional designers, particularly across campus partnerships. Percentage of Time: 100 Shift Start: 8:00 am Shift End: 5:00 pm function checkForSelectedStatus(){ return true;} Qualifications for Position 16 Records Qualifications Required/Preferred Advanced degree in an area related to education, communications, educational technology, instructional systems, or other academic discipline Required 5-7 years of work experience (or equivalent) in designing high quality academic courses for online delivery and/or re-designing traditional on-ground courses for online or blended delivery. Required Strong background in learning assessment that will allow coordination of internal effectiveness evaluation and coordination with larger campus initiatives. Required Advanced ability to conduct analysis and develop recommendations, demonstrating organizational and problem-solving skills. Required Advanced analytical, verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, collaboration, and negotiation skills. Required Advanced knowledge of organization policies and procedures, especially policies that impact online course development. Required Advanced knowledge of instructional design principles, and learning strategies, including needs analysis, backwards design, learning outcomes and assessment design, and instructional approaches including lecture, discussion, activities, projects, etc. Required Advanced knowledge of the technical tools and platforms required to achieve the delivery of engaging and media-rich online learning content and of trends in the use and effectiveness of educational technology and learning. Required Advanced understanding of educational, business, and market strategies and priorities related to online learning and achievement of organizational goals. Required Advanced knowledge and skills with content creation tools and relevant institutional systems relevant to instruction offered by campus. Required Advanced knowledge of applying adult learning theories and education methodologies in creative ways. Required Advanced knowledge of e-learning strategies including but not limited to courses (e.g., processes and technologies, etc.). Required Expert level skills in application of planning, resourcing, and monitoring of effective design life cycles of training and other learning and performance solutions to support the organization. Required Thorough knowledge to conduct appropriate job and task analyses in the context of instructional design of technical or specialized training. Required Expertise in innovatively using and instructing others in digital learning tools appropriate for developing student skill sets and knowledge in particular disciplinary areas and at least two of the following areas:
- Social media tools and application in teaching and learning
- Multimedia authoring and project management tools
- Interactive media, simulations, gamification
- Tools that enhance communication and collaboration in a digital environment
