Position Summary

The Construction Management (CM) program in the School of Planning, Design and Construction (SPDC) at Michigan State University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor starting in January 2020. The successful candidate will be expected to teach core construction management courses and will demonstrate actual or potential scholarly research activity that advances the interdisciplinary focus of SPDC. We are especially seeking candidates who have the potential to develop a strong interdisciplinary research program with external funding in one or more of the following areas: sustainable built environment, building science, smart and connected systems, non-traditional and innovative building materials/methods, disaster management, and resilient infrastructures and their impact on/from construction project management. The candidate will also engage in appropriate service at the department, college, university and community level.

Required Degree

Doctorate -Construction Management or related field

Minimum Requirements

At a minimum, candidates must have a PhD degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering and Management, Architecture, Architectural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a closely related field; strong communication skills; and demonstrable ability to mentor students conducting research, and teach at the undergraduate and graduate level in core CM areas, including but not limited to structural systems, contracts, construction documents, scheduling, and estimating.

Desired Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates with relevant professional licensing or certifications; and U.S. Construction industry experience.

The Construction Management Program is a nationally recognized program that awards an ACCE accredited baccalaureate degree as well as Master’s and PhD Degrees in CM. The program currently has 8 full-time faculty positions, approximately 200 undergraduate students and 25 graduate students.
