Job Details
College of the Sequoias Community College District is seeking qualified adjunct faculty to teach within its Social Sciences Department. Social Sciences-related courses include: Administration of Justice, Anthropology, Economics, Ethnic Studies, Geography, History, Humanities, Philosophy, Political Science, Psychology, Religious Studies, Social Science, Sociology, etc.
Adjunct faculty assignments may include weekend and/or evening classes at the Visalia Campus, the Hanford Educational Center, or the Tulare College Center.
Adjunct faculty applications which meet the required minimum qualifications are kept on file for one year from the date the application is received.
Under the general direction of a dean or director, adjunct faculty will provide comprehensive classroom instruction to students.
To work as an adjunct faculty member at the College of the Sequoias, you must meet the minimum qualifications as established by the California Community Colleges Chancellor's Office.
These minimum qualifications may be found within the "Minimum Qualifications for Faculty and Administrators in California Community Colleges" ("MQ's Handbook") located at: http://www.cos.edu/About/HumanResources/Pages/Minimum-Qualifications.aspx

To be considered for an adjunct faculty position, applicants must:
- Complete an online application;
- Provide a Cover Letter which states the class(es) you desire to teach as well as a general summary of your qualifications;
- Submit a resume;
- Provide unofficial transcripts (official transcripts will be required upon hire); and,
- If claiming equivalency, the completed equivalency documents (located at: http://www.cos.edu/About/HumanResources/Pages/Equivalency-Policy.aspx ) must be attached.
Organization
College of the Sequoias is a two-year California community college offering educational and enrichment programs for the residents of its district in Tulare and Kings counties. The college was established in 1925 and moved to its current 62-acre main campus site in Visalia in 1940.
In addition to the campus in Visalia, COS operates a full-service center in Hanford that is also home to the college's police and fire academies.
COS also opened its Tulare College Center in January 2013. It is a full-service college center and the home of COS' agriculture program
