The Associate Dean is an Administrator III position within the California State University Management Personnel Plan (MPP), and serves at the pleasure of the University President. The Associate Dean serves on the Division Leadership Team and reports directly to the Dean for Continuing and Global Education.
As a senior administrator in the Division of Continuing and Global Education, the Associate Dean provides strategic and operational leadership for the development of extension credit and non-credit programs, special session academic credit and non-credit programs, supervision and management of Spring Intersession, Summer Session and Winter Intersession, direct oversight of the Veterans Education Program, and support of Division development activities. As delegated by the Dean, the Associate Dean represents the Division internally at Fresno State, in the local community, and throughout the CSU.
The salary is competitive and is negotiable depending on the strength of qualifications. This is a CSU Management Personnel Plan (MPP) position with an attractive benefits package which includes but is not limited to: a vacation accrual rate of 16 hours per month; 12+ paid holidays; excellent choice of medical, dental and vision insurance, long term disability coverage, life insurance; and retirement benefits.
Oversee and administer Spring Intersession, Summer Session and Winter Intersession.
Oversee the Veteran's Education Program, the premiere veterans program in the California State University system.
In the absence of the Dean, perform duties of the Dean.
Supervise and promote the development and implementation of new certificate and degree self-support programs, and serve as a consultant to campus constituencies in order to provide program development and approval guidance to faculty and administrators.
Monitor student success and enrollment management for international students. Responsible for retention and graduation of international students and the use of data analytics to do so.
Ensure that all Division programs operate in compliance with applicable Collective Bargaining Agreements for academic employees.
Apply appropriate CSU salary schedules for Unit 3 and Unit 11.
Monitor academic operations to ensure all Division continuing education programs operate in conformance with relevant campus and system-wide academic policy, including the prohibition of supplanting operations.
Perform a wide range of Human Resources Administration tasks, including interviewing, hiring, training, coaching, supervising and evaluating employees reporting to the Associate Dean.
Serve as the primary liaison for Division academic operations with campus and system-wide Deans, Associate Deans, Department Chairs, and Program Coordinators in order to provide programmatic resources.
Oversee Division participation in professional associations and community initiatives.
Promote active collaboration, coordination, and open communication between the Division and the campus' schools and colleges.
Supervise and oversee the operations of Early Start Program and coordinate with campus constituencies as appropriate.
Promote professional growth, development of team work, and strong ethics across all operations under the Associate Dean.
Consult with and recommend changes to policies of relevant regulatory bodies and campus groups as they relate to the academic programs of the Division.
In conjunction with the Dean, serve as a campus liaison for system-wide Extended Education task forces, committees, and councils, and develop strategic partnerships throughout the CSU system.
In conjunction with campus Deans, monitor all academic programs for alignment with the university mission, student demand, and community needs.
In conjunction with the Dean, assist with the promotion of Division development activities.
An earned doctoral degree from an accredited institution of higher education.
Minimum 2 years of leadership in a complex organization directly supervising employees.
Minimum 3 years teaching experience at an accredited institution of higher education.
Strong knowledge of issues surrounding veteran's education and transition from military roles to civilian roles.
Understanding of CSU Extended Education policies and procedures.
Demonstrated experience with interprofessional collaboration.
Demonstrated ability of working with in an ethnically, culturally, and linguistical diverse campus and community.
Evidence of ability to work well with people at all levels and build sustainable relationships.
Minimum of 2 years of leadership in a complex organization directly supervising represented employees.
Familiarity with campus consultative process for program development.
Understanding of campus strategic priorities.
Successful development activity experience.
Knowledge of risk management and continuity of operations.
Demonstrated leadership ability to promote innovative ideas and concepts.
Knowledge and experience working with data to promote student success.
