The University of Miami Department of Medicine Cardiovascular Division has an exciting opportunity for an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner.  The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) is a licensed independent practitioner who is responsible for managing health problems and coordinating health care for the patients assigned to his/her panel.   Working autonomously and/or in collaboration with other providers, the APRN conducts physical assessments, takes medical histories, maintains patient records, identifies health risk factors, make referrals, performs and interprets diagnostic tests, diagnoses and treats common and complex conditions, provides screenings, interventions, counseling, and prescribes medications as needed.  APRN s provide health education services and counsel patients on how to make healthy lifestyle choices.    By providing these additional services, APRNs help patients avoid long hospital stays and frequent emergency room visits, thus driving down their healthcare costs, and improving their quality of life. The ARNP will be responsible for establishing goals and objectives for the Cardiovascular Clinics in congruence with the assigned division goals and objectives. The APRN will work with supervising faculty members and cardiology fellows to manage all patient medical needs. Develops treatment plans for acute and chronic diseases. Educates and guides patients on disease prevention and healthy lifestyle habits. Understands the changes in health promotion throughout the aging process. Conducts medical exams and performs diagnostic tests and screening evaluations. Manages overall patient care regarding lifestyle and development issues. Emphasizes preventative care and disease management. Prescribes needed medications. Provides episodic and chronic care management, as well as screening and educational assistance to the clinic's patients.  Recognizes diversity of patient population and treats all warmly and kindly.  Works in harmony with other members of the healthcare team to provide the highest standards of quality care to patients.  Provides quality care to patients by following the most current evidence-based guideline and procedure of practice Follows the clinics' evidence-based guidelines, perform common vaccinations and diagnostic screenings.  Provide clinical support to cardiology off-campus site.  Perform Hospital rounding and on-call activities.  Initiate and facilitate clinical research protocols.  Identify patients for eligibility for research protocols as per IRB standards.  Takes part in quality assurance audits, including continuing education, CP review, medication administration review, and peer review.  Ensures UHealth's objectives regarding financials, patient engagement, patient satisfaction, and healthcare quality.  Ensures participation in continuing nursing education and training to keep abreast of current developments in the industry.  Ensures state licensure and national certification remain current and valid Ensures continuous flow of communication with leadership of healthcare clinic to enhance quality of healthcare service to patients.                  

The minimum qualifications are as follows: •  Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program • Current Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) Licensure • Current Nurse Practitioner certification in specialty area • Current provider card in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)• Eligible for hospital privileges • Minimum of 3 years hospital and cardiac experience required.

Patient safety is a top priority.
