ITS Business Analyst (Feb. 2019)
This full-time professional position represents ITS’ Enterprise Systems and Integration Services (ESIS) group and serves as the technical liaison for ITS with business and academic departments throughout the W&L community, specifically focused on enterprise-wide software, systems, and integration services. ITS’ philosophy is ‘best of breed’ regarding software systems with many products, both vendor and in-house developed, deployed for various critical functions. Managing the relationships with key stakeholders for all products and data needs is a critical component of this role.
This position will serve as the key enterprise systems resource for requirements gathering for off-the-shelf products, custom applications and integrations development, workflow design, business analysis, and data management. The Business Analyst plays a critical, supportive role to the user community by defining and translating needs into deliverable solutions. The position is directly involved with many of the IT responsibilities through the product lifecycle (from inception to ongoing support) of any application supported by the ESIS group.
The Business Analyst must demonstrate exceptional interpersonal and analytical skills, and the ability to describe, document, and educate both functional and technical audiences. The analyst will serve in a hybrid role, eliciting and translating requirements for functional users and technical developers in addition to architecting workflows, integrations, and more within enterprise applications.
Status: Full-Time, 12 Month, With Benefits
Work Hours: 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday
Minimum Pay: $68,704 / annual. Salary Commensurate with Experience.
The scope of this position is broad and fluid depending on University/ITS needs; current essential and related functions include:
- Manage product lifecycle by:
- Eliciting and documenting business requirements for application purchase or development.
- Translating functional requirements into technical specifications (i.e. necessary product integrations).
- Providing necessary point-of-contact support for customers throughout product implementation.
- Assisting with internal testing of custom solutions, workflows, and integrations.
- Supporting community members through complex issues and needs with existing applications and datasets.
- Serve as ESIS liaison to ITS Client Services team, attending team meetings, providing next-level support, and partnering on projects as needed.
- Develop and maintain system design for new or revised business systems; document and analyze input/output requirements, data security, procedural flow between departments, operational audits, and organizational structures.
- Serve as secondary application administrator for a variety of on-premise enterprise applications including content management, development, and financial aid.
- Interact with all levels of the university, both technical and functional, to understand how data-driven changes to process, products, services, software, and hardware can improve efficiencies and add value while driving final, practical outcomes.
- Actively engage in data governance, warehousing, modeling, and reporting activities. Assist with implementation/migration, maintenance, and data security.
- Provide functional and analytical support for all integrations managed by ESIS.
- Document process for functional and technical audiences.
- Describe and educate on technical architecture for functional and technical audiences.
- Provide analytical and decision-making support for enterprise systems.
- Follow the ITS Information Security Program and industry standard best practices to help ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of all IT resources.

- Bachelor’s degree
- Three to five years of relevant experience, including demonstrated expertise in business analysis, requirements analysis and definition, process analysis, software development lifecycle management, or similar role.
- Proven experience operating within cloud-based, on-premise, and hybrid technical environments.
- Proven ability to work and thrive both in a team environment and independently.
- Higher education experience
- Expertise with business intelligence and analytics including data integration, data warehousing and tools for empowering functional areas to consume data in new ways
- IIBA or PMI certification, or interest in obtaining relevant business analyst certification
- Fingering: Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with whole hand or arm as in handling.

The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions (as in typical office or administrative work).
Types of Work:
Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
