Position Summary

The Associate Director of Employer Engagement educates and supports students and recent alumni in achieving success with their professional goals. Areas of responsibility include networking with alumni and employer contacts to cultivate internship and job opportunities for students, career advising, teaching the Professional Development course, delivering educational programming, and collaborating with others on recruitment, engagement, and career related events. The Associate Director supervises the Employer Relations Manager and reports to the Assistant Provost for Post Graduate Outcomes/ Director of Career Development.
Specific Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and oversight to a comprehensive strategy for employer and alumni engagement focused on vocation and career development.
  • Cultivate, coordinate, and manage alumni and employer relationships to maintain and grow internship and employment opportunities for students and develop new ones; collaborate with the employer relations coordinator and others to execute career fairs and related events.
  • Serve as office lead for collaborative Break Through events (Career Treks and conference) and additional career related activities such as the Women's Leadership Symposium.
  • Facilitate employer involvement in on-campus engagement opportunities, identify new partners, ensuring that services meet and exceed employer partner expectations; steward existing employer connections by providing assistance and advice on strategies for reaching and engaging students.
  • Develop and implement signature programs to enhance employer/alumni-student engagement.
  • Supervise the Employer Relations Manager.
  • Teach up to two sections of the Professional Development course each semester.
  • Assist students with career and major decision making; educate students on resume and
    cover letter writing, interviewing and internship/job search skills; administer and interpret career assessments, such as Myers-Briggs, DISC, Holland Code, etc.
  • Design and deliver career related programs: the job/internship search, applying to graduate school, etc.
  • Assist with presentations for prospective students and their families.
  • Assume responsibility for the Career Development Center during the absence of the Director.
  • Maintain ongoing professional development via involvement with relevant professional organizations such as MACCA, EACE, PennACE, and NACE.
    Required Qualifications

    Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
    Knowledge of career development theory and practice, career assessment resources, and career software systems. Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with diverse populations and organizations including students, faculty, alumni, staff, and parents. Excellent communication skills. Evidence of a commitment to diversity. Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team. Skilled at managing multiple tasks simultaneously. Able to work occasional nights and weekends.
    Education
    Master's degree in higher education, student personnel administration, or related field required.
    Experience
    Employer relations and career development experience required.
    Physical Demands
    Typical office environment: Position requires the ability to stand or sit for extended periods and the ability to move about the campus. Position requires the ability to talk and to hear instruction. Position requires manual dexterity and the ability to occasionally lift up to 10 pounds.
    Preferred Qualifications

    Experience
    Teaching experience is highly desirable.
