The Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering at the University of Florida invites applications for a 12 month, non-tenure track, full-time, positions at the rank of Professor of Practice in the J. Crayton Pruitt Family Department of Biomedical Engineering.

The faculty members will instruct selected biomedical engineering courses depending on the specific needs of the department. In particular, there are needs in the areas of biomedical instrumentation, engineering design, quantitative physiology, and/or biomedical engineering fundamentals. The faculty members will also contribute to continuous curriculum improvement, academic program ABET accreditation, and developing new educational initiatives. Successful submission and funding of grants focused on engineering education is strongly encouraged. The candidate will have the opportunity to participate in department, university, and professional service activities. Candidates with experience or willingness to engage in activities that contribute to diversity and inclusion are especially encouraged to apply.

We seek outstanding candidates who have a Ph.D. in biomedical engineering or bioengineering, or a closely related discipline. Applicants must have an outstanding record of academic and research accomplishments, a strong interest in undergraduate and graduate teaching in biomedical engineering, and a commitment to professional service (e.g., through participation in professional societies). The successful candidate will be expected to teach biomedical engineering undergraduate and graduate courses, collaborate with faculty in and outside the department, and be involved in service to the university and the profession. Previous experience with biomedical instrumentation, engineering design, and/or quantitative physiology is highly desirable. Industry experience and/or contacts would be beneficial for instructors teaching engineering design. Candidates with a bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in a closely related field of engineering and industrial experience will be considered.
