Selection to be a member of GGC’s Orientation Team is an honor and a rewarding opportunity for personal and professional growth. Each year the Office of New Student Connections selects a group of mature and dedicated undergraduate student leaders to assist with implementing the college’s orientation programs. As an Orientation Leader, you are responsible for welcoming new students and their families to GGC, serving as a role model to new students and assisting in being a first point of contact to students and guests in their adjustment and transition to GGC.
Position Details
- All Orientation Leaders are required to attend and participate in all spring trainings (dates for training TBD).
- All Orientation Leaders are required to participate during all fall and spring Grizzly Orientation Sessions which are held April-August and November-January.
- All Orientation Leaders will be paid $8.25 per hour
Duties
Assist in the organization and preparation of orientation activities as requested by New Student Connections staff to ensure the orientation program proceeds smoothly and successfully.
Welcome new students and their parents/families to GGC and assist them in the initial orientation registration and check-in. Specific tasks are assigned to each Orientation Leader during each orientation session.
Be a source of information regarding academic, policies and procedures, campus services, activities, building locations, and all other aspects of life at GGC.
Help to assist with new student course registration.
Work closely with the entire Orientation Leader team and professional staff.
Be able to take initiative with unanticipated tasks or problems.
Assist with other office duties as needed.
Maintain regular communication with New Student Connections Staff.
Additional responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum and Preferred Qualifications:Minimum and Preferred Qualifications:
Undergraduate, degree-seeking student who has completed a minimum of 12 credit hours at GGC and maintains 6 credit hours during the Fall and Spring semesters while working in New Student Connections.
Be a student in good academic and disciplinary standing at GGC with a grade point average (cumulative) of at least 2.7 at the time of application to be maintained throughout the position.
Possess the following qualities: leadership skills, team oriented spirit, positive attitude, maturity, motivation, flexibility, integrity, strong work ethic, respectful and commitment to personal development.
Strong ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with a diverse multi-cultural environment.
Must have the desire to learn about all aspects of GGC to present information to others.
Exhibit the commitment to the mission of the Office of New Student Connections and uphold the four core values that are central to GGC.

Physical Requirements
Position may require local travel. Ability to lift and carry files and materials. Depending upon specific duties, position may require a College-issued uniform or shirt to ensure employees engaged in representing the College to the community are clearly identified as such. Ability to move from one office to another office on campus. Adequate vision, hearing and manual dexterity to interact with people in person, on the phone and in writing. Applicant must be able to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations.
