Under the supervision of the Director of Application Services, the Systems Analyst II performs user consultation, systems design and analysis, logic and code development and documentation based on approved functional specifications. Prepares complete programming package for coding and testing and follows all systems details through to completion, including writing programs. The programmer/analyst adheres to established policies and procedures and from time to time may have the opportunity to participate in setting standards, policies, and procedures. Typically the programmer/analyst works with little direct supervision while interacting with users as well as all other components of the IT organization including the application development team.

Pre-requisites for Position (Qualifications Standards)

Education and experience sufficient for the rigors of the position, such as a Bachelor’s Degree and two years of related work experience as a programmer or an analyst, or equivalent education and experience necessary for the position responsibilities.

Special Skills and Abilities: Basic understanding of systems architectures and operating systems; Familiar with development tools (editors, debuggers, version control, bug tracking); Desire to learn new programming languages and related technologies; Preferred Operating Systems, Languages & Tools: Unix, Windows, Envision, Java, C+, PHP, HTML, CSS, .Net, Unidata, Unibasic, SQL, Colleague Studio, SharePoint Designer, Infopath; Ability to take detailed specifications to compose functional requirements and articulate potential implementations issues and challenges; Strong written, verbal, analytical and interpersonal skills in technical and non-technical areas; Attention to details; Ability to work directly with customers to understand and resolve issues and concerns; Self-motivated with little supervision while fully participating as part of the applications development team.
