Position Summary:
IT Service and Delivery. The Cabling Infrastructure Specialist provides essential cabling installation services, support, and maintenance for faculty, staff, and students.

Essential Functions

Installs cabling to support wireless access points, cabling for classroom technologies, and maintenance/repair of existing cabling infrastructure.

Installs network (CAT 6), fiber, AV (HDMI, USB, speaker/audio), coax cabling.

Maintains and troubleshoots cabling infrastructure.

Repairs cabling inputs for data, AV, telephony inputs.

Terminates cabling within data closets.

Assesses cabling needs within designated locations; makes cable channeling installations.

Performs data port tracing/labeling.

Georgia Southern University is a Tobacco Free Campus.

Minimum Education Required:
Associate’s Degree or two years of post-secondary education

Minimum Experience Required:
Five or more years of related work experience

Could a level of education higher than the minimum required for the position substitute for the minimum level of job-related experience?: No

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Effective communication (verbal and written), organization and human relations skills; ability to work well in a diverse environment; proficiency with computer and Microsoft Office Applications software including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases; legally authorized to work in the United States; successful completion of background investigation prior to employment.
