The University of Illinois System attracts the nation’s most talented students and is the state’s largest system of higher education, with nearly 86,000 students. The U of I System is also leading the development of the Discovery Partners Institute (DPI), a purpose-driven, collaborative research institute that is focused on creating societally beneficial solutions to grand challenges and central hub of the Illinois Innovation Network. DPI’s mission is to establish collaborative partnerships that address 21st century societal grand challenges, promote entrepreneurship, and educate the next-generation workforce, which will grow the state’s economy. DPI is currently recruiting three positions for its leadership team:

Managing Director - serves as deputy chief executive officer and provides a visible and dynamic leadership role for fulfilling the purpose and mission of DPI. In doing so, the Managing Director serves as an advisor to the Director on the strategic, administrative and operational needs for the DPI enterprise. The role also provides managerial oversight of all unit functions and operations and acts as a subject matter expert and resource for campus units on matters related to the DPI.

Director of Administration - serves as the chief financial officer and human resources liaison and provides strategic leadership and planning regarding oversight of fiscal resources, finance functions, research administration, facilities management, and human resource management within DPI.

Director of External Engagements and Partnerships - serves as the chief external engagements and partnerships officer for DPI and develops, implements, and oversees DPI’s strategy to connect with industry; governmental and non-governmental agencies, community-based agencies, and cultural and philanthropic organizations.

These are full-time, 12-month Academic Professional positions, based at either the Discovery Partners Institute headquarters at 200 S.
