Head Football Coach
The head football coach is responsible for leading all facets of a Division IIIprogram. Of particular importance are the proven ability to communicate effectively with student-athletes, parents, staff, faculty, alumni, administrators and media; the proven ability to organize and implement successful recruitment and development programs; the proven ability to inspire achievement and leadership among student-athletes and staff; and a commitment to adhere to the regulations, resources, philosophy, standards of the institution, the CCIW and the NCAA.
1. Manage football program operations, including coaching, recruiting, and supervision of coaching assistants, graduate assistants, and student workers. 2. Manage recruitment/retention of student-athletes. 3. Manage the program budget. 4. Maintain a professional demeanor and attitude at all times. 5. Communicate in a courteous manner. 6. Demonstrate a commitment to diversity and promote an inclusive culture. 7. Meet or exceed NCAA Academic Progress Rates. 8. Work effectively with student athletes of varying abilities, socio-economic, and cultural backgrounds to instill commitment, discipline, and teamwork. 9. Maintain program supplies and equipment. 10. Maintain compliance with NCAA, Conference (CCIW), and institution. 11. Promote an atmosphere of compliance within the program and monitor the activities regarding compliance of all assistant coaches, graduate assistants, and other administrators involved with the program. 12. Participate in fundraising and development events. Be highly visible in the community. 13. Organize, plan and conduct safe team training during practice and conditioning activities. 14. Manage a program with the highest of standards where student-athletes are empowered to lead lives of leadership and service outside of the football program. 15. Demonstrate a strong commitment to continuous improvement. 16. Support mission, vision and values.
1. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. 2. Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills. 3. Proven successful experience in recruiting and coaching at the collegiate level or as a head coach at the high school level. 4. Thorough knowledge and understanding of NCAA Division III rules, practices, policies, philosophy, and procedures.
Master’s degree from an accredited institution preferred.
