Director of Athletics
The Athletic Director is the senior strategic leader of the Athletic Department and serves as the principal representative in the field of intercollegiate athletics. Currently, the College is conducting a Campus Facilities Master Plan that addresses a number of athletic facility needs. The Athletic Director will work closely with the Vice President for Student Affairs and the Office of Institutional Advancement in ranking athletic priorities and fundraising.
• Ensure linkage of the mission of the intercollegiate athletics program to the mission of Elmhurst College, and demonstrate commitment to both. • Demonstrate commitment to diversity and inclusion through positive action with measurable results. • Provide strategic College-wide leadership in developing and implementing policies leading to improved recruitment, growth in enrollment, and increased retention of student-athletes. • Develop and manage the overall intercollegiate athletics program budgets, including departmental, team and special events. • Recruit, manage and evaluate the athletic staff. • Lead and manage the coordination of internal and external operations related to scheduling, travel, competition and even facilities use. • Maintain a professional demeanor and attitude reflective of the values of Elmhurst College. • Represent the college’s athletics program in marketing and promotional efforts, and at community outreach events and fundraising activities. • Serve as a CCIW representative. • Maintain the College’s athletic program compliance with all NCAA, CCIWand Title IX rules and regulations through training and leadership of athletics staff. • Lead the athletics program in meeting or exceeding NCAA Academic Progress Rates. • Demonstrate a strong commitment to continuous improvement. • Support mission, vision and values.
• Master’s degree from an accredited institution • Five years of experience in athletic administration in higher education • Proven record of recruiting and retaining student-athletes • Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills • Thorough knowledge and understanding of NCAA Division III rules, practices, policies, philosophy and procedures
