The University of North Alabama (AACSB accredited) invites applications for a tenure-track Eminent Scholar faculty position with a rank of Associate Professor or Professor within the College of Business for the 2019 fall semester. Candidates must possess a doctorate from an accredited institution in one of the following disciplines: Accounting, Computer Information Systems/Computer Science/Information Technology, Economics, Finance, Management, Marketing, Quantitative Methods/Statistics, or a closely related field. Review of applications will begin March 1, 2019. The posting will remain open until filled.

The holder of this Eminent Scholar position will be one of three endowed chairs in the College of Business. The successful candidate appointed to this esteemed role will have a visible leadership role with broad autonomy and strong support in a truly strategic function where pivotal decisions made well will impact a fine institution prepared to recognize and reward success. The review of candidates will focus on their research productivity, teaching effectiveness, involvement in university, college, and community service, and fit with the culture of our university, college, and department. Responsibilities include teaching in-class and online undergraduate and graduate courses, research and mentoring research, service to the profession, college, and university, and being an engaged leader and ambassador for the college.

The successful candidate will have evidence of effectiveness in the classroom and a record of producing publications necessary for the college to meet current AACSB International accreditation standards. Salaries are competitive with other AACSB accredited institutions.

The UNA College of Business offers the Bachelors of Business Administration (BBA), the B.S. in Computer Science (BSCS), and the B.S. in Information Technology (BSIT). The BBA is included in programs accredited by AACSB, the premier accrediting institutions for business schools. The BSCS is accredited by ABET. The College of Business has approximately 2,350 students, with 1,525 at the undergraduate level and 825 at the graduate level. The College offers an MBA degree both online and in Florence, Alabama and the Executive MBA online and in Florence, China, and Taiwan. The College is in the process of proposing an Executive DBA degree to begin fall 2020. In addition to traditional business majors, the College offers majors or minors in Innovation, Professional Sales, Information Technology, and User Experience. The College operates a business incubator for students who desire to create their own business. The College is also extensively involved in economic development through its Institute for Innovation and Economic Development.

Organization

Established in 1830 as LaGrange College, the University of North Alabama has a rich history including the distinction of being the first state-supported teachers college in the South. The school's 130-acre campus is located in the historic district of Florence, Alabama, on the Tennessee River. Students come from around the country and world, but UNA is largely a regional university with about 70% of students coming from Alabama. Students can choose from more than 60 majors with professional fields in business, education, and nursing being most popular. Academic programs are supported by a 23 to 1 student / faculty ratio and an average class size of 25. On the athletic front, the UNA Lions compete in the NCAA Division I ASUN Conference.
