Job description

Location: Columbia
Full/Part Time: Full-Time
Job ID: 28992
Job Description A postdoctoral position is available in the lab of Antje Heese (University of Missouri; Columbia MO, USA) for a NSF-funded project to delineate roles of clathrin-coated vesicle (CCV) components in plant innate immunity. The project goals are to understand how individual and combined roles of CCV proteins control trafficking at the Trans Golgi Network/Early Endosome to maintain the correct location and abundance of defense-related cargo proteins at the plant cell surface. This project will utilize cross-disciplinary approaches including immune-signaling and bacterial infection assays, plasma membrane and apoplast proteomics, and live-cell imaging. Professional development and outreach opportunities are provided.

The proposed start date for the successful candidate is in Feb-April 2019.

The successful candidate will be part of the Interdisciplinary Plant Group (IPG; https://ipg.missouri.edu/), a vibrant and supportive community of MU faculty, students, postdoctoral fellows, and professionals who are pursuing novel, creative, and transformative ideas in the field of plant biology.

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in Biochemistry, Biology, Molecular or Cell Biology and have a strong interest in plant cellular signaling and protein trafficking. Prior experience in live-cell imaging and molecular biology techniques (including cloning) are highly desirable, and experience in protein biochemistry, plant immunity, proteomics and/or bioinformatics are favorable. Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to work well in a collaborative research team are critical.
