Job Summary:
The University of San Francisco, School of Law seeks a detail-oriented administrative and legal assistant with strong interpersonal skills who has experience in immigration law. The School of Law established the Immigration and Deportation Defense Clinic in the spring of 2015 with the mission to represent unaccompanied children and family members who are in removal proceedings. The Program Assistant III provides full-time administrative and legal support to the Immigration & Deportation Defense Clinic. The PAIV will serve as a critical point of contact for clients and the community.

Full Job Description:
Job Responsibilities:

  • Schedule and maintain client meetings.
  • Respond to telephone, e-mail, and in-person requests for clinic information and legal support inquiries.
  • Prepare immigration forms.
  • File both immigration court documents and family court filings.
  • Occasionally assist in interpreting and translating for Spanish speaking clients at Asylum Office interviews.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Strong demonstrated commitment to immigrant communities.
  • Ability to speak and write both Spanish and English fluently is required.
  • Ability for careful, conscientious work even when managing multiple projects at one time;
  • Excellent judgment and respect for confidentiality; solid oral and written communication skills; a professional and responsive demeanor; and a cooperative spirit.
  • Post high school education preferred
  • Three years of increasingly responsible experience in administrative support work or related education.
  • Must be organized and able to work on many projects at the same time.
  • Experience working with computer database systems, word processing and spreadsheet software, including Microsoft Word.
  • Ability to maintain effective relations with students, faculty/staff and public.
  • Must be customer service and team oriented.

Additional Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
  • Must have a driver's license; Bay Area travel is required

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
(office, lab, facilities/maintenance, coaching, lifting 25lbs, etc.)
  • Office setting. May be required to lift objects up to 25lbs on occasion.

Minimum Hire In Rate: $43,748.00

Full time

Scheduled Weekly Hours:
37.5

Pay Rate:
Hourly
